Men Today Are Not What They Used To Be

Comparing men today to men of just one generation ago reveals some disturbing information pertaining to testosterone levels.

An article published by Forbes magazine, highlights how men’s testosterone levels have been declining for decades.

According to a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, the drop in men’s testosterone levels, since the 1980s, has been "substantial." They go on to say that the average testosterone level declines about 1% per year. So, the average 60 year old man in 2004 had testosterone levels 17% lower than that of a 60 year old man just 17 years prior (1987). That is a significant amount.

In Denmark, a study found, on average, males in the 1920s had testosterone levels 14% higher than males born in the 1960s.

And it doesn't end there. A study conducted in North Carolina found that, over time, men today are significantly weaker than men of previous generations. They found that millennials, aged 30 to 34, had significantly less grip strength than men who were similarly aged in 1985. The largest deficit being men ages 25 to 29, who gripped with 25 pounds fewer force.

Grip strength isn't the only test of a man's power, but, researchers find it to be a good predictor of other strength and health related tests.

The reasons behind these findings are multifaceted. Many observers put more weight on increased exposure to environmental toxins, such as pesticides, parabens, and chemicals common in household products like phthalates and bisphenol A.

Findings have shown, men who have been exposed to common chemicals known as parabens have lower testosterone levels and more sperm that are abnormally shaped and slow moving.

Parabens are widely used preservatives in cosmetic products, including soaps, creams and makeup. Parabens can be found in many products: sunscreens, body lotions, facial lotions and cleansers, mascara, assorted lipsticks, hand soaps, shampoos, conditioners, sprays, gels, and some food products.

Some parabens are banned from cosmetics in the European Union, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not limited use of the ingredients.

Many men start their day by soaking in these compounds. It's in the shampoo they wash their hair with and the soap they clean their bodies with.

The Modern Man Soap Company offers products that are paraben free. Soaps and shampoos made from all natural ingredients. Products made the same way they were a hundred years ago. When men were men and products were not toxic.
